WORK WITH US

Bloom has emerged to walk alongside you in your journey; to meet you where you have been planted.

Bloom Art Therapy & Counselling was created to support children, youth, and adults as they journey through the different stages of life. We recognize that the level of support needed will vary depending on each individual and where they are in this journey.

We offer individual and group art therapy to children, teens, and adults, as well as specially tailored parenting support to those who need guidance in supporting their child through the growing years. We value the role parents play in their children’s lives, so we strive to involve parents whenever possible and appropriate. We provide frequent updates offering valuable feedback and resources to empower parents in their parenting roles.

We also appreciate the unique challenges that come with pregnancy and postpartum and thus offer specialized art therapy to those in this stage of their lives.

Perinatal Art Therapy

Trying to conceive, being pregnant, experiencing loss, and adjusting to life with a baby can bring a flood of emotions—both joyful and painful. Perinatal art therapy offers a safe, creative space to explore these experiences using line, shape, colour, and a variety of art materials. No artistic skill is needed—just a willingness to express and reflect.

This gentle therapeutic approach supports individuals and families through a wide range of emotional challenges, including:

  • Depression and anxiety during or after pregnancy

  • Infertility and the emotional toll of trying to conceive

  • Grief and loss following miscarriage, stillbirth, or other perinatal loss

  • Fear of labour and birth

  • Previous birth trauma

  • Shifts in identity as you become a parent

  • Body image changes and the relationship with your body

  • Attachment styles and early bonding with baby

Whether you are seeking healing, clarity, or simply a space to breathe, perinatal art therapy can help you reconnect with yourself, process what you're going through, and move forward with greater strength and self-compassion.

OUR APPROACH

We help you thrive and grow through human connection and the healing power of creativity.

Our approach is guided by core values that shape our work. We recognize that parents play a crucial role in their child’s well-being, and we strive to involve them in the therapeutic process. After each session, parents receive valuable feedback and resources to help support their child at home. Additionally, we emphasize the importance of building a consistent therapeutic relationship, encouraging children to view mental wellness as an ongoing priority rather than something to address only in times of struggle. At Bloom, we are here to help children and families not just cope but truly thrive.

FAQ

Frequently Asked
Questions

  • Art Therapy uses the process of artistic creation to facilitate self-expression, self-exploration, and transformation. Unlike art class, the focus of the session is not on art-skill development, but instead an opportunity to access one’s inner world and emotions. In moments where words cannot express our inner world, the art making process helps explore our emotions and intentions.

  • No art experience, special talent, or skill is required to participate in Art Therapy because the emphasis is on the process of making art and what feels right, not so much the final product.

  • While we work from a predominantly art-based approach, our therapists are trained in a number of different modalities and draw from these regularly with clients, depending on their needs and goals. These include, but are not limited to Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and Play Therapy.

  • Finding a therapist that you and/or your child is comfortable with and will work with is very important, which is why we offer a complimentary 30-minute Meet-The-Therapist session before getting started.

  • Individual session range from $125-$160/hour, depending on the therapist you see and their level of experience and training.

If finances are a barrier to your family accessing services, please speak to us about the availability of our sliding fee scale service.

Group sessions vary depending on the number of sessions offered, but will be outlined on the website when registration opens.

  • Many extended health plans cover counselling by a Canadian Certified Counsellor and/or Professional Art Therapist. Call your provider to enquire whether your plan includes clinical counselling services by a CCC or a Professional Art Therapist.

  • We understand that unforeseen circumstances can occur. However, missed and late-cancelled appointments impact your child’s healing journey and restricts others’ access to counselling services.

Group sessions require payment at registration and are non-refundable.

Individual sessions require 24 hours cancellation notice so as to avoid charges for session costs.
